Skin Care After a Brazilian or Bikini Wax

skin care, wax, Brazilian wax, bikini wax, wax aftercare

You understand the importance of maintenance when it comes to a beauty and skin care regimen. You have all the latest moisturizing creams and you exfoliate every inch of your body. Well, most of your body. If you are like most women, your daily routine ignores the area down below.

While you endure the time, money and pain to have regular Brazilian or bikini waxes, once you leave your appointment you forget this area even exists until your next appointment. But the truth is that you should exfoliate this area just like you exfoliate your body and face.

Remembering to include the bikini region in your self care routine will pay off in many ways. You will remove dirt and dead skin which will, in turn, help you avoid ingrown hairs and dry skin. The following are the steps to exfoliation.

Exfoliate Before and After Waxing

About 2-3 days before your waxing appointment, begin exfoliating to prepare your skin for the process. Exfoliate again 2-3 days after your waxing appointment.

Choose Your Tools

While a loofah glove is a user friendly accessory to exfoliating, you do not have to use this.  A sponge, washcloth, or even your hands will all do the trick. Just choose what makes you feel the most comfortable.

Choose An Exfoliant

There are a wide array of exfoliants on the market, from high end designer brands to Do It Yourself concoctions. In fact, one of the simplest go-to exfoliants is baking soda! This is a very personal decision and depends on your budget, penchant for beauty recipes and how your skin reacts to certain products.

Start Scrubbing

  1. Clean the area with a soap or body wash.
  2. Take a nickle size dab of your product and squeeze onto your hand.
  3. Use your tool (hand, sponge, loofah, etc) and rub along the waxed area.
  4. Move gently and in a circular motion so that you can clear out any clogged pores.
  5. Make sure to scrub over the entire area that has been waxed so as not to avoid any potential ingrown hairs.
  6. Do not rinse right away. Leave the exfoliant on your skin for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Rinse and pat dry.
  8. Apply a light moisturizer.
  9.

Develop An Exfoliation Routine

Exfoliating after a Brazilian or bikini wax should be a part of your regular skin care process. As hair regrowth begins, ingrown hairs are a very real possibility and can result in unsightly blemishes and even infection. By repeating this exfoliation process every few days between waxing appointments you will keep the area free of dirt and dead skin. You will also stand a good chance of training new hair to grow in a healthier direction. Ultimately, this will help you avoid ingrown hairs and keep your skin soft and beautiful.
